Card Factory is set to open a new store at Riverside Shopping Centre in Stafford on Wednesday 30 July, bringing another well-known high street retailer to one of the town’s busiest shopping destinations.
The new shop will open in the unit previously occupied by Claire’s, which closed at around March 2026 after several years at the shopping centre. Recruitment for the new store took place several months ago, with the opening now just a few weeks away.
The new store will offer Card Factory’s usual range of greeting cards, gift bags, wrapping paper, balloons, party supplies, gifts and seasonal products, giving shoppers another option for celebrations and special occasions.
Another Stafford store will remain open
The new Riverside shop will join Card Factory’s existing Stafford store on Greengate Street.
As far as is known, the Greengate Street branch will remain open, meaning shoppers will have two Card Factory stores to choose from in Stafford town centre.
Another empty unit brought back into use
The opening will see another vacant retail unit brought back into use at Riverside Shopping Centre.
Claire’s occupied the unit until its closure earlier this year, with the premises remaining empty while Card Factory prepared for the new opening.
The arrival of another national retailer continues the steady changes taking place across Stafford town centre, with a number of businesses opening, relocating or refurbishing premises over recent months.

Claire’s occupied the Riverside unit until around March 2026 before closing as part of changes to its UK store estate. The retailer continues to trade online and at concession stands within other UK retailers, such as Asda stores.
