Hitachi Energy’s move from Stone to Stafford has been signalled by a recent planning application for new signage at Beacon Business Park.
The application, reference 26/42118/ADV, relates to Plot 17 at Beacon Business Park on Northampton Drive, Stafford.
It seeks permission for four externally mounted, illuminated Hitachi corporate logo signs. The application says there would be two signs per building, mounted and fixed to the cladding.
The application was received by Stafford Borough Council on Wednesday 22 April 2026 and validated on Wednesday 22 July 2026. It is currently awaiting a decision.
Move from Stone to Stafford
Hitachi Energy announced in December 2024 that it planned to invest £18 million in a new operational campus in Staffordshire.
The company said the move would see it leave its existing Stone office, which had served as its UK local headquarters for 28 years.
At the time, Hitachi Energy said the new campus would allow it to retain its existing 400-strong team based in Stone, while also bringing hundreds of jobs to the area over the next decade.
The company said the Stone site could not be modernised without excessive costs, and that the move would support future growth in the UK.

New campus at Beacon Business Park
The new operational campus is being developed at the Beacon Development Zone in Stafford.
Hitachi Energy has said the site will specialise in digital innovation and include a new innovation area to support the company’s future UK growth.
The company also said the development would help it continue delivering critical energy infrastructure for customers across the country.
Construction started in 2025, with the campus expected to open in 2026.
What the signage application means
The latest application does not relate to the main construction of the campus itself.
Instead, it is an advertisement consent application for Hitachi corporate logo signs on the new buildings.
However, the application is another visible sign of the company’s move from Stone to Stafford progressing.
If approved, the illuminated signs would be installed on the buildings at Plot 17, Beacon Business Park.
