Stafford man charged after series of shop thefts and assaults

A Stafford man has been charged following a series of alleged shop thefts and assaults in the town.


Liam John Rogers, 38, of Stafford, has been charged with six counts of theft from a shop and four counts of assault by beating.


The charges follow incidents in Stafford between Thursday 18 June and Sunday 16 August.


More than £500 of goods allegedly taken

Stafford Borough Police said more than £500 worth of goods were taken from five shops during the period. Four people were also allegedly assaulted.


Rogers has been released on conditional bail ahead of a court hearing next month.


He is due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Friday 18 September.
