Six parks and green spaces across Stafford Borough have once again been recognised among the best in the UK after retaining their prestigious Green Flag Awards.
The latest awards mean the borough’s six winning sites have now achieved an impressive 70 years of Green Flag success between them. The internationally recognised award celebrates parks and green spaces that are welcoming, well maintained and managed to a high standard.
The six sites recognised this year are Victoria Park, Wildwood Park, Tixall Road Crematorium, Eccleshall Road Cemetery, Stonefield Park and Stone Cemetery.
Stafford Borough Council said the awards reflect the ongoing work of council staff, volunteers and local Friends groups who help look after the borough’s parks and green spaces. Meanwhile, Green Flag Award Scheme Manager Paul Todd MBE congratulated everyone involved, saying quality parks provide valuable places for people to enjoy nature, improve their wellbeing and spend time with others.
Joss Presland, Head of Operations at Stafford Borough Council, also thanked staff and volunteers for their continued efforts. He said the awards provide independent recognition of the high standards maintained across the borough’s green spaces.

About the Green Flag Award
The Green Flag Award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces. Managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, it recognises sites that are clean, safe, well managed and environmentally sustainable.
Thousands of parks and green spaces across the UK receive the award each year, with judges assessing everything from maintenance and biodiversity to visitor facilities and community involvement.

Victoria Park became Stafford Borough’s first Green Flag Award winner in 2006. Since then, five more council-managed sites have achieved the accreditation, taking the borough’s combined total to 70 years of Green Flag success.
