A Stafford man has been jailed for more than seven years after admitting child sexual offences committed during the 1990s.
Clive Davies, 72, was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison at Stafford Crown Court on Monday 3 August.
He had pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault on a girl and two counts of inciting a girl to commit an act of gross indecency.
Survivor came forward in 2024
Staffordshire Police began investigating Davies after the survivor reported the offences in 2024.
Officers found that he had sexually assaulted the girl on a number of occasions several decades earlier.
The terms used for the charges reflect the legislation in place when the offences were committed.
Detective Constable Jessica Taylor, from Staffordshire Police’s rape and serious sexual offences unit, praised the survivor for coming forward.
She said Davies may have believed he would escape responsibility because the offences took place many years ago, but had underestimated the survivor’s strength.

Police encourage survivors to report offences
Police said the case showed that allegations of sexual offences could still be investigated regardless of how much time had passed.
Officers worked with the survivor to build a case before Davies entered guilty pleas and was sentenced.
